Ed Dunlop Handed Suspended One-Year Ban After Lucidity's Positive Cocaine Test

Classic-winning trainer Ed Dunlop has been handed a one-year ban, suspended for 12 months, following a positive cocaine test returned by his filly, Lucidity, after a race at Brighton on July 4, 2023. Though the source of the Class A drug remains unknown, the British Horseracing Authority imposed a disqualification on Dunlop under strict liability rules. The ban will only be enforced if another major anti-doping violation occurs within the next year. Dunlop was fined £1,000, and Lucidity was disqualified from the race, where she finished second as the favourite.
