Charlotte Harbor National Estuary Program (CHNEP) is a partnership working to protect and restore water resources in Florida from Venice to Bonita Springs to Winter Haven. Since 2012, the CHNEP has held an annual Conservation Lands Workshop to help its partners in their efforts to fulfill a plan to protect the environment. This video is one of the presentations given during the September 7, 2016 workshop.

The talk "Ecological Integrity: Managing Land in a Changing World" was given by Edwin M. Everham III, Professor of Marine and Ecological Sciences, Florida Gulf Coast University.

Conservation land management is complicated by shifting public and political expectations for these lands and their managers. Perhaps a greater challenge is the reality of climate change, invasive exotics, altered hydrology and changes in historic patterns of perturbation, with the resultant shifts in populations, communities and ecosystems. These "emergent ecologies" provide both problems and opportunities to the land manager.
