RZSS Edinburgh Zoo’s largest residents Bertus and Samir, the two greater one-horned rhinos, will be celebrating their seventh birthdays with a joint birthday party on Thursday 23 July.

Their keepers have made a large birthday ‘cake’ out of hay and decorated it with tasty rhino treats such as fresh grass and plenty of fruits and vegetables. The final touch is bamboo sticks for ‘candles’, which will be topped with carrots to resemble flames. The cake will be given to the duo of two-tonne rhinos on Thursday morning.
