The first time I bought a watch with my own money was really hard. Spending my 100 dollars at the time for a watch was a major investment. The choices were endless and I had no idea where to start or what to get. That said, After 6 years of collecting... this is my conclusion of the best watch under $100


The History & Concept behind the Seiko 5 line is quite interesting. The Seiko 5 line was introduced in 1963 with 5 key concepts in mind. The watch had to be automatic, it had to have a day and a date in a single window, a recessed crown, it also had to be water resistant & finally it had to be durable.

Now keep in mind this is the best watch in my opinion under 100 dollars, but it isn't the best watch money can buy. As with everything it has it's drawbacks. Let me start of with the few negatives, then we can check out why this watch is absolutely fantastic for the money.

The movement for someone who is just getting into mechanical watches is fantastic because of the display back. I believe everyone gets into the mechanical collecting hobby when they first see this cool little engine. Though it might not be the nicest movement nor decorated to say the least. To the untrained eye it's still a cool factor. Now the bad this is the accuracy. To keep it simple, its absolutely horrible. If you buy this watch you might have to set it every 2 or 3 days as this one gains about 11 seconds a day. Also since it is the 7s2d then it doesn't have hand winding which is a major negative for me personally.

That is the only real negative I have for the watch. But lets talk about the specs, the watch is 37mm by 10mm thick with a strap size of 18mm. Personally I believe this actually wears more like a 36mm so keep in mind it is a smaller watch which could be a postive or a negative.
