Throwdown in the Shutdown - NO PREP Drag Race

For the first time ever, Brainerd Motorsports Park hosts the Throwdown in the Shutdown, a TRUE NO PREP drag race, held in the shutdown area of the historic track. Since the track was once a quarter mile, it had plenty of room to start the cars at the eighth mile mark, and race to the old quarter mile mark. The unprepped asphalt surface was tricky, and resulted in some wild action throughout the night of racing. A few cars dropped out of the 32 car small tire shootout, but it still required five rounds of racing to determine the winner of $3,000. They also had a big tire shootout, and grudge racing throughout the night.

The eventual winner was Billy Smith in his turbocharged LS powered Nova, coming off of another No Prep win in the Mark Ravens Memorial Cash Days 3 event the week prior. Big tire went to Wes Moore in the red Chevy II.
