Alex Garland’s approach to music in Civil War is both bold and surprisingly restrained and I couldn’t resist utilising the space in the mix for some experimentation. Much of the film’s visual style, tension, and themes reminded me of Sicario and the use Jóhann Jóhannsson’s incredible score (plus a few pieces from Prisoners) was a no-brainer to see how it might alter the tone and experience of the scene.
