Yesterday I took the train to London to visit @newdesigners 2025 Week 1 (via a banana bowl & some colourful gin glasses 😉). I met with longtime associate Elizabeth Knowles of Old Bag Designs & together we spent a rather special afternoon at the @bdclondon in Islington.

The stands were all incredible but if I had to pick one out that really impressed, it was ‪@lborouniversity‬’s. Visually cohesive (not a simple task when you’ve a myriad of different products, styles & colour palettes involved), the eye-catching displays made it easy to appreciate individual items & learn how processes & design ideas had evolved.

There were so many talented designers we missed speaking with, but the work of those listed below was of particular note (apologies to the students, tags are for Instagram not YouTube but please do visit IG and give them a follow - this won’t be the last time you hear if them for sure):

We ended the afternoon at a talk from friends of NOWHOUSE.uk, ReFAB Studio (ReFAB sponsored the first ND award for upcycling innovation). Founder Rewati Prabhu & head of design & production Cordelia Blair-Strickland were, as ever, engaging & informative & their relaxed style of delivery was not only enjoyable but thought-provoking as well.

Do give everyone mentioned in this post a follow, it won’t be the last time you hear of them. And the really good news? Week 1 is not over until Sat 05 July, with week 2 running from 09-12 July (product design, furniture, illustration & game design). See you there?
