Holden Madagame thought he would never sing again when he knew he had to take testosterone to be the man he wanted to be. There was seemingly no precedent for professional opera singers to transition gender and retain a high-level performance in their voice.

But Holden's journey is different. A few years into a program of testosterone, he is training at the Glyndebourne Academy, which coaches young singers to overcome their barriers and achieve their potential.
