The Most FEROCIOUS Form of Shiva - Kaal Bhairav in Kashi 🔱

Kaal Bhairav is a fierce manifestation of Shiva. The Shiva Purana says that Kaal Bhairav is the God of ghosts, goblins, mutants, witches, zombies, and other occult creatures. His birthday is celebrated as Kaal Bhairav Jayanti by Hindus in India, Nepal, Japan, Tibet, and Sri Lanka.

Because he has a rod or Danda in his hand to punish sinners, another name for him is Dandapani (“he who holds the Danda in his hand”). He is also called Svasva, which means “one whose vehicle is a dog”.
Bhairava comes from the word bhīru, meaning “fearsome”. Bhairava means “a terribly fearsome form”. He is one who is beyond fear.

He protects his devotees from greed, lust, and anger that prevent us from seeking God within. Another interpretation is that ‘Bha’ denotes ‘creation’, ‘ra’ means ‘sustenance,’ and ‘va’ denotes ‘destruction’. Hence, Bhairava can create, sustain and dissolve the three stages of life. So, he is the supreme God.
