Trumpet tip, Piccolo Trumpet Basics

This is a basic introduction to piccolo trumpet. I borrowed a couple piccolos to demonstrate some of the differences between horns. The 4th Valve G slide is not meant to pitch the horn in The Key Of G it is used to make certain trills easier. I recommend getting a good horn. These instruments are difficult to play in tune and a substandard instrument will make playing piccolo very frustrating. If you are focusing on becoming a classical player I higly recommend purchasing a pic by the time you are entering college. I am by no means a piccolo player and only play mine a few times a year. If you plan on becoming, or are a comercial player I recommend finding a horn that you can quickly become comfortable playing. This will allow you to play the occasional piccolo piece without spending a lot of time learning the instruments unique tendencies.
