Farer Lansdell manual wind watch unboxing

Unboxing the Farer Lansdell. This model came out in 2018 and has been long discontinued, but I picked it up recently.

The cushion case design works well with the very slim profile of the case. The stainless steel case has a diameter of 37mm, and a tiny lug-to-lug of just 39mm, making it very wearable for wrists as small as 16cm in circumference. But where this case stands out is the 8.5mm thickness, or rather lack of it. Very slim, and fun to wear. And the 20mm lug width makes changing out straps very easy.

The slim profile is thanks to the manual wind ETA/Peseux 7001 movement, which itself measures at just 2.5mm in height. The small seconds movement has a 42 hour power reserve thanks to the slower beating 3Hz movement, but that won't be very obvious with the small sub-dial.

The dial has a great deal of art-deco styling, especially the use of the green against the sunburst central silver section. Farer is well known for its use of multiple colours, and it's rare for them not to have at least three - something most designers will avoid. In this case, the green, silver and red work well together.

For those not familiar with Farer, the independent British watch company was launched in 2015. It designs its own watches and has them produced in Switzerland.
