Indian Classical dancer Yasmin Singh performs Kathak recital at the annual Khajuraho Dance Festival in Madhya Pradesh. She is from Raipur, Chhatissgarh.

Bestowed with natural beauty, talent and grace, she is an accomplished Kathak dancer whose facial expressions complement her dance and make her performance superbly stunning. Her emphasis is on perfection, Riyaz (Practice), Tyaari (Preperation) in “Tatkar”, “Pandhant” and command over the “Laykari”. Ability to effortlessly move from one character to another in split of seconds helped her in winning over the pundits, critics as well as popularity amongst masses.

Subtle “Abhinay” (Acting), lithe and elegant footwork, graceful movements are some of the fine hallmarks of her performance. A magnetic stage presence and complete mastery of technical nuances make her rare artist which can take Kathak to a new height, Today, she is one of the most sought after artist in major national and international festivals of dance and music in India.

Yasmin Singh is appreciated as a star of Kathak. Her brilliant performances in national and international events have established her as an outstanding performer not only at her home in the federal state of Chhattisgarh (in India) but also at the national level. She is expounding Raigarh Gharana. She aspires to add a new dimension to Raigarh Gharana.

'Lucknow Gharana' is the other style of Kathak, in which she has a special interest. She believes in harmonization of different genres of Kathak. In her opinion, 'Lucknow Gharana' style with its delicate nuances of expressiveness, alluring grace in movements, eloquent gat bhav and its unique abhinaya (expressions) can be central enabler in harmony of different genres of the dance form.
