verage velocity is a measure of how quickly an object changes its position over a certain period of time. It is calculated by dividing the total displacement (the straight-line distance between the starting and ending points, considering direction) by the total time taken to cover that displacement.

Mathematically, it's expressed as:

Average Velocity = Total Displacement / Total Time

Unlike speed, which only considers how fast something is moving, average velocity also takes into account the direction of motion. If an object returns to its starting point, its displacement is zero, and thus its average velocity would also be zero, regardless of how fast it was moving during the journey
