Why on earth should corn growers take a page out of wheat growers' handbook?

Paul Sullivan, of Sullivan Agro near Kinburn, Ont., says there are management lessons learned in wheat that apply to corn production, too. It all comes down to managing stress at key points in the growing season.

Looking to the Great Lakes Yield Enhancement Network as inspiration, Sullivan says that it's clear that added attention to management, data collection, and diagnostics in earlier growth stages of wheat is paying off at the combine.

Similarly, corn in that V6 toV7 stage and all the way to tassel timing could likely benefit from more scrutiny, better diagnostics, and more yield-supporting management, Sullivan says in this episode of the Corn School.
