Preparations speeded up on Sunday (23/7) to support the UN's Rapid
Reaction Force being deployed in Bosnia. A UN supply plane was
re-directed at short notice from its normal work of transporting
military equipment to the the Croatian port of Split to facilitate the transport of Dutch armoured personnel carriers (APC) to bolster the Rapid Reaction Force's needs. A giant US C-5 Galaxy plane landed at Split airport carrying a number of APCs. So urgent was the movement of new equipment that all of the APCS were being shifted without the customary coat of white paint which distinguishes them as UN tanks. The APCs had come from the Netherlands.
