VIGGEN. . . BY SAAB! (airshowvision)

Here is one of the most highly respected warplanes of the Cold War - the SAAB Viggen fighter and attack jet of the Swedish Air Force - this one was the sole remaining airworthy example from the Swedish Historic Flight as of 2014.

Sweden was neutral in the Cold War but was in a vunerable position in the World and as such developed a huge and extremely capable air force to defend itself from both the Russians and the Americans as a precaution.

Along with the Draken it made a formidable fighting force in the 1980's, and the wonderful historic flight assets are highly sought after as airshow exhibits to this very day.

This sensational display is from the Waddington Airshow in Lincolnshire, England in July 2014, and was very much one of the highlights of the day.
