The annual National Science Challenge went virtual this year, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. ASM has been organising the National Science Challenge or NSC since 1999 and serves as a platform to nurture scientific minds and interest in STEM among the youth in order to develop future high-skilled talents and leaders. This year, the annual event is organised in conjunction with Minggu Sains Negara 2020 and is themed “Towards a Pandemic-resilient Community Through Science”. The aspiration behind the selection of the theme is so that the youth are able to fully comprehend the full impact of the pandemic and will spark the new ideas in the fight against the virus. The six finalists beat 1,021 teams to claim a spot in the Grand Final by progressing through the national preliminary level, the state level and the semi-final level.
