On the Wrist, from off the Cuff: DAGAZ – CAV-1 Type 2.2, Vintage design, Modern execution

Описание к видео On the Wrist, from off the Cuff: DAGAZ – CAV-1 Type 2.2, Vintage design, Modern execution

On this episode we take a closer look at the outstanding CAV-1 Type 2.2 from modding house DAGAZ. The Type 2.2 is a very clear and finely executed homage to the Vietnam Era Benrus Type 2. Although the design language is pretty immediately recognizable as a military-style watch, because Benrus never offered the original Type 2 for normal retail, the design isn't to instantly recognizable as a specific Benrus design. The Benrus Type 2 truly defined the modern military watch layout, in the same way that the original Blancpain Fifty Fathoms and Rolex Submariner have defined the modern dive watch. The Type 2 being a cross between a field watch and dive watch vs. the more traditional Diver styled Benrus Type 1, it was the first to really bond the two genres together to form would would eventually be known as the Military-style watch. Very fitting considering the Type 2 was genuine government issue timepiece. Fast forward to today and you'll find many, many iterations of military watches created over the years, all containing that same original DNA that Benrus defined, so many years ago. What Jake from DAGAZ has done here, is create a quite faithful tribute piece, with most all of the added modern amenities associated with today's dive watches. The DAGAZ CAV-1 Type 2.2 is a very limited and high quality piece that you can wear in almost any situation and although it's technically a homage watch, it's not one that 100% depends on the design's past heritage for success, Jake has produced a timepiece that can be worn proudly in its own right. Let me know what you think in the comments below, thanks.
