33rd Sunday in The Park 2024

Описание к видео 33rd Sunday in The Park 2024

Sunday in the Park has long been a cornerstone of social cohesion and inclusion in Regent Park, and this year’s festival was no exception. In a neighbourhood experiencing significant change, the event continues to foster connections, promote unity, and provide a space for residents to come together.

This year’s festival faced significant financial challenges. In fact leading up to the event, questions were raised whether this year's festival should be cancelled as funding from the City of Toronto only amounted to $1500, significantly down from previous years. However in a remarkable show of community spirit, residents leaders rallied to raise funds, with key donations coming at the last minute to ensure the festival could proceed. TD Canada Trust contributed $2,500, the Daniels Corporation donated $1,500, and Scotiabank contributed $1,500. Thats not all, both Tridel and YSM each donated $1000. The Regent Park Neighbourhood Association (RPNA), donated $750 and NIP, Metrolinx, TNG, the Regent Park Community Ministry and St. Micheal's each donated $500. Financial donations were also recieved from Zero Cocktail Bar, Seas, Victim Services Toronto and the Chartwell Seniors Building. In total, almost $16,000.00 was raised!

In addition to financial donations, many community organizations provided in-kind resources, staff and volunteers. These in-kind services and contributions were essential in helping to cover event costs, reinforcing the community’s deep commitment to keeping Sunday in the Park alive.

The event was organized by the Regent Park Social Development Plan (SDP) and Neighbourhood Information Post (NIP), alongside other grassroots organizations in Regent Park. Their collaborative efforts ensured that the festival not only succeeded but continued its tradition of providing a space for residents to come together in celebration and support each other.
