#HEALTHYSNAILS#SNAILCARE#KEEPINGSNAILSALIVE#SNAILFARMING...In this video, we will be exposed to 16 ways you can care for your snails to keep them alive.

(1) MAKE SURE YOUR SNAIL PEN IS WELL COVERED: Cover your snail pens with protective fine nets that has very tiny holes like the ones we use here in Nigeria and some other parts of Africa to protect our windows and doors from mosquitoes.
Also, make sure there are no holes/cracks/crevices in and around your snail pen to avoid predators from gaining access to your snails. Also the fine nets prevents the juvenile snails from escaping from the pen and also prevents other predators from gaining access to the snails in the pen.
(2) AVOID SITING OR BUILDING YOUR SNAIL PENS IN BUSHY AREAS: Such areas are mainly prone to soldier ants invasion.
Although it is not altogether bad building your snail pens in bushy areas, but a word of caution for us to be safe from predators like soldier ants anywhere you build your snail pens is to PLEASE TRY TO DIG A TRENCH ROUND YOUR PEN WITH WATER IN IT AND POUR CONDEMN ENGINE OIL ON TOP OF THE WATER.
(3) DISCARD OLD SNAILS FOR SALE: If you cant sell all your old snails, you can as well personally consume some of them because as they become old, their shells naturally gets weakened and this can lead to death of the snails.
(4) BE INTENTIONAL ABOUT GIVING THEM WELL FORMULATED CALCIUM CONCENTRATES: Give them calcium concentrates like BONE MEAL,, GRANULATED EGG SHELLS,, and even GRANULATED SHELLS OF DEAD SNAILS.
Why should we give them these,, because this will make their shells firm and strong.
It will also stop them from having WHITISH or DECOLOURED SHELLS which stops them from dying.
(5) MAKE SURE YOU FEED THEM REGULARLY: When we say regularly, we mean DAILY....the same way you eat everyday. Make sure the food you are giving them is BALANCED DIET.
(6) MAKE SURE YOUR SNAILS ARE NOT EXPOSED TO DIRECT SUNLIGHT: Snails naturally loves COOL AND DARK HABITAT. That is why when building or constructing your snail pen,, you need EXPERTISE ADVICE/GUIDANCE.

(7) CARRY OUT REGULAR PEN CLEANING: You do this by brining out your snails first from their respective pens. Then next you remove the old and decaying food remnant.
Then remove your internal Mulching materials like the COCOA LEAVES, and PLANTAIN or BANANA LEAVES which they like to hide under for cooling and egg laying. Finally, we should then clean up the pens of their feaces. This process should be done like TWICE(2 TIMES) WEEKLY.
(8) STOP!!! GIVING YOUR SNAILS FOOD COOKED WITH SALT: Don't give your snails food remnants or left over foods in your house that contains salt.
Like YAM COOKED WITH SALT,,BEANS COOKED WITH SALT,,PLANTAIN COOKED WITH SALT,, or RICE COOKED WITH SALT.
Remember that Salt and Snails DO NOT AGREE!!!.
(9) AVOID EXCESS FLOODING OF THEIR PENS: In as much as we want their pens to be damp and moist, we do not want to directly pour water on them to the point of causing a deluge in the snail pen.
(10) SOILT TYPE: Look for DARK/BLACK HUMUS LOAMY SOIL that is WELL TREATED to fill the bottom or base of each respective pen in your farm.
DO NOT USE SANDY SOIL neither should you use CLAY SOIL.
No matter how you wet sandy soil, it can never get damp because it quickly and easily loses water to the depth of the soil.
(11) FLOOR MUST BE UNPLASTERED/NON CONCRETE: Let the bottom of each pen be without cement or GERMAN FLOOR in order to allow water to drain away freely to avoid over flooding of the snail pens.
(12) SORTING SNAILS: Always sort your mature snails from the newly hatched in the snail pen to avoid trampling on the juvenile snails by mature snails or cannibalism.
(13) MULCHING MATERIALS: Like plantain leaves/banana leaves cocoa leaves should be kept inside the snail pen to provide a kind of covering/shade for the snails inside the pen.
(14) DO NOT WET YOUR PENS WITH HOT/WARM WATER: Especially during the dry/harmattan season whereby the sun is always intensely very hot. Plastic storage water tanks are easily heated up during this sunny periods in Nigeria and West African countries and hence not good for wetting snails.
(15) WET YOUR PEN TWICE(2 TIMES): Especially during dry season wet it MORNING and COOL EVENING.
(16) LEARN HOW TO INCUBATE YOUR SNAIL EGGS: With this method of you having a HATCHERY on your farm, you can achieve 90%-95% success in converting your snail eggs to actual snails.
