That model, replaced by the Reflex-Nikkor-C 500mm f/8, added multi-coated optics to the same optical formula. Over the nearly 20 years that Nikon produced lenses with this optical formula, these became highly popular with serious amateur and many professional photographers. This lens, in fact, belonged to a working professional photographer who used it often in his work, including photographing the attempted rescue of some teenager who fell into a flash flood.
