Roe v. Wade OVERTURNED: Robert Bork and his failed nomination's role

Описание к видео Roe v. Wade OVERTURNED: Robert Bork and his failed nomination's role

In this video, I discuss the role Robert Bork's failed 1987 confirmation to the Supreme Court played in the eventual downfall of Roe v. Wade in 2022. Bork was a far-right judge whose views were considered too extreme for the court at the time, and his nomination was defeated by the Senate. However, he would become the model for future judges nominated by Republican presidents. Even though Bork never would sit on the Supreme Court, the five justices -- Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett -- who voted to overturn Roe in 2022 all hold nearly identical views.
