Описание к видео Art of the High Renaissance and Mannerism

During the early 16th century a few artists coming out of Italy achieved a kind of status and celebrity that no European artists before had achieved. Artists like Michelangelo, Raphael, Leonardo, Bramante, Titian, Giorgione not only achieved massive popularity and success in their time, they were allowed an artistic freedom few before them were allowed. Following this new found artistic freedom, artists we free to expressed themselves in ways never allowed before. Artists began to reject the strict adherence to nature and, instead utilize techniques, while not realistic, instead expressed their artistic personalities and vision.

Following the High Renaissance, the following Italian movement called Mannerism, pushed this individual artistic expression and rejection of nature as the primary model for art to new extremes.
