Why are Finn and Poe so surprised to see flying stormtroopers? Certainly a former stormtrooper would have known they could fly, and we know Poe Dameron has encountered them before in the comics. First, I want to admit that I do think this moment was written for most of the Star Wars audience who don’t read the comics or watch the animated series. For most people watching the movie, they might be having the same reaction seeing a stormtrooper fly for the first time on the big screen. But for all of us nerds, I don’t see why we can’t just chalk it up to Finn and Poe’s exasperation. They’re being chased by stormtroopers and all of a sudden they launch up into the air, and they’re like, “Ugh! Not only do these stormtroopers have treadspeeders, but they also have jumptroopers??” People made way too big a deal out of that moment, in my opinion. #starwars
