Mercury 60 hp 4 stroke EFI - Dies on Throttle Down - Need Diagnostic Help

Merc 60 HP Motor Dies at Mid RPMs

I'd like to see if someone has ran into this issue before, or if anyone can help me out. I made a video so you can see the issue.

I have changed the plugs and the fuel filter. I am running fresh gas now. The gas in the tank had gone bad.

The motor is a 2008 Mercury 60 HP 4 Stroke EFI. I think the video will show the issue best. The motor will idle just fine, and run WOT just fine, but the motor doesn't want to keep running at the mid RPM range (2-3000 RPM). When I throttle down, it usually dies, or acts like it wants to die. I suspect this issue is somehow tied to bad fuel since when I changed the fuel filter there was crud in the filter bowl. But, since idle and WOT are just fine, it kinda has me stumped!

Something that I find interesting is the tach jumps around. This has been going on for a couple years, and I didn't pay much attention to the issue since the motor ran fine. I have always wondered if this was an indication of a problem somewhere in the ignition?

Anyway, I thought I'd reach out to see if anyone has any ideas before it goes to the shop.
