Описание к видео Dominican Friars in Rwanda "We are unprofitable servants..."Father Raphael OP

32ND TUESDAY IN ORDINARY TIME A – 10/11/2020
“We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do” (Lk 17:10)
Dear brothers and sisters, praise be to Jesus forever! On this 32nd Tuesday in Ordinary Time, liturgical year A, Jesus tells us what we should say when we have done all we have been commanded: “We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do”. In other words, the disciples of Jesus should not think that they are extraordinary or that they deserve thanks and applause, even if the action accomplished is worthy of praise and encouragement. Jesus opens a path of humility that leads to freedom and personal fulfilment.
In fact, the path of humility that Jesus proposes to his disciples is liberating and promising in at least two aspects. On the one hand, humility leads someone not to take his duties as a burden, but to consider them as a gift from God, an opportunity given to him to exercise his talents and creativity. Thus, thanks to God’s help, the humble one manages to love what he does, to put his heart into it. On the other hand, the humility that Jesus recommends to his disciples helps to preserve the quality of service and to avoid the trap of the race for honours and rewards. We remember that Jesus always refused to be applauded or made famous.
Brothers and sisters, this journey of humility is proposed to us today. Are we going to live our various responsibilities as a hindrance to our personal development or as an opportunity? Are we going to relearn to do everything out of love? Are we going to do what we have to do right without expecting thanks and applause?
Let us pray: Lord Jesus, you give us so many benefits without demanding gratitude from us. Increase in us the confidence in your immense goodness and give us the grace to work joyfully for your glory and the salvation of our brothers and sisters. For you live and reign forever and ever. AMEN!
Father Raphaël MANIKIZA UWINEZA, OP
