Will Reolink POE Doorbell Ring its Chime, OOTB?

Описание к видео Will Reolink POE Doorbell Ring its Chime, OOTB?

I'm refurbing a rental property, and I'm running Ethernet everywhere. I want to run Ethernet to the door for a video doorbell, because it would be an attractive feature for a tenant, but I don't want to manage it myself, primarily for privacy reasons.

Because the tenant will have to set up the networking themselves, I wondered if this $99 Reolink POE Doorbell Camera (minus $23 coupon as of 03/06/24):

would work as a dumb doorbell (e.g. no camera, no network alerts, just a chime) if it were powered up out-of-the-box, disconnected from any network. Reolink bundles this camera unit with a separate "chime" unit that plugs into AC power, and they communicate over 433 MHz RF. They're paired at the factory, but will they work without some sort of initial setup?

POE cameras and devices are normally powered from POE switches, but I'm not installing a switch, so I purchased this $12 POE adapter/injector (802.3af):

This video shows me plugging the camera unit into POE for the very first time, without any initial setup, to see if it will ring the chime unit.

I can't comment yet on the Reolink app or on its integration with Blue Iris NVR software, because this experiment was solely to verify whether it will chime without any initial setup or network connection.

It chimes!
