Over the years, people have often asked what my favorite vocal mic is (and what mic pairs well with the 4-track): the Shure Beta 58A is my favorite vocal mic. Here are some thoughts on how I landed on the Shure Beta 58A. I think any mic in the Shure Beta 58A, SM58, SM57 family would be a good choice for 4-track recording, and/or if you have a low to mid range voice and/or if you like the SM58 for your vocals.
