The All Raid Marwet People Federation (ARMPF) formally complained to Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal about extensive illegal soil excavation in the Marwet area, a move taken after the Forest Department at Byrnihat allegedly failed to act on earlier reports. Led by its President Rink Sohpdang and Secretary Komol Shakwa, the ARMPF voiced deep concern over the rampant destruction of hills, rivers, and forests, noting that the uncontrolled digging has severely damaged local water sources critical for surrounding villages. They further pointed out the ironic situation where Guwahati is blamed for floods while the environmental destruction is driven by profiteers, affirming that the Deputy Commissioner has promised to report the matter to the Forest Department's higher officials for a prior survey and necessary action.
