Dedicated cycle lane in Gulbarga and priority bus lane in Kalaburagi. Good news for cyclists and travellers of Kalaburagi City. The Kalburgi Mahanagarpaalika in Association with Directorate of Urban Land Transport Bengaluru (DULT), will build a dedicated cycle Lane and a dedicated bus Lane in Kalaburgi City.

The dedicated cycle lane will be built from Shahabad cross Ring Road to old RTO cross via Rajapur Road. This will be the first stage of dedicated cycle lane which will be about two kilometers long. The Kalaburagi Mahanagarpaalika has already called a tender of 4.77 crores for the project. This will be the first ever dedicated cycle lane in north Karnataka. If the Rajapur road cycle lane is successfull, then many dedicated cycle lanes will be implemented throughout the city.

Coming to bus lane, the North Eastern Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NEKRCT) is preparing a draft to create a bus priority lane in Gulbarga.

Directorate of Urban Land Transport Bengaluru will provide complete financial assistance to create the bus priority lane. Minimum 3.5 metres of road on either side is required for it. The project would cost around 80 lakhs per kilometer to erect bollards, barricades and concrete structures.

In the first stage, the dedicated bus lane will be created from the Kalaburagi bus stand to Sedam ring road via Rashtrapati Chowk, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Circle, Annapurna Cross and Basaweshwara Hospital. Later on, the priority bus lanes will be implemented all over the city in stages.

NEKRTC, with the help of city police and city corporation, conducted a trial run for bus lane on sedam road in February 2021.

Hope these two projects will be completed soon and reduce the traffic congestion in Gulbarga city.
