Good morning guys, today we're at Hacienda El Viejo wetlands. Today we're here to check out their beautiful property and tours they offer so let's go.

The first tour we did at Hacienda El Viejo was their rum tour. Our guide, Richard, started the tour with a short introduction to sugar cane, which is what they use to make their rum.

Their rum, called Sabandi, is made in an artisanal way with only four ingredients and their sugar cane is all organic.

The tour took us through the entire process, starting with the sugar cane and ending up at their rickhouse where they store the distilled rum in oak barrels. There, we sampled the aged Sabandi rum and got to infuse our own, choosing 3 of our favorite flavors. This was an extremely interesting, fun and interactive tour and the best part was that we got to take home the very rum that we created!

Right now we're going to go and experience their cultural tour.

So how are you? Pura vida. Now we're in a Costa Rican mode. My name is Juana but you can call me Juanita, nice to meet you.

Our guide for the cultural tour, Juanita, shared with us aspects of traditional Guanacaste cowboy and farm life. This entertaining tour included an ox powered sugar cane mill and a visit to an authentic traditional Guanacaste house and kitchen.

At the kitchen, we learned how to make handmade tortillas and we also got to sample local treats and delicious Costa Rican coffee.

Another activity you can do at Hacienda El Viejo is their wildlife observation boat tour. This is done down the river between the private reserve and the Palo Verde National Park.

The Hacienda El Viejo wildlife reserve protects 5000 acres of wetland, including part of the Tempisque River and the very important tropical dry forest. It is home to one of the largest number of resident and migratory birds in Central America, making it an incredible destination for wildlife in Costa Rica.

On their wildlife observation boat tour, visitors can see animals such as crocodiles, birds, monkeys and iguanas.

We just finished all the tours here at Hacienda El Viejo, we had a ton of fun learning about Costa Rican culture, we saw wildlife and ate a delicious traditional lunch. If you guys want to learn more about this place and come to visit, please click on the links below and thanks for watching.
