High Tin & Other Metal Contamination in a Reef Tank

Описание к видео High Tin & Other Metal Contamination in a Reef Tank

Corrosion and contaminated or low quality additives can all lead to high levels of unwanted metals like Tin, Iron, Zinc, Chromium, Cobalt, Copper, Aluminium, and Lithium. Over time, these metals can build up and cause issues with our fish and coral leading to RTN and STN on Acropora and soft corals that melt suddenly.

Use paints like POR-15 to stop rust, and service the metal parts of pumps with lubricants like Molykote 111 to prevent the addition of more metal into your tank. Take a look at the salt you're using, and any additives you add as well - particularly if you're seeing high Aluminium or Lithium as these are not elements that commonly corrode in our tanks.

Once you fix the problem, turn your attention to removing the metal from your water using things like Pana Lith, Triton Detox, CupriSorb, MetaSorb, or Rowaphos.
