Why is This Toyota Tacoma?! // 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD PreRunner PREVIEW

The all-new Toyota Tacoma will spawn a number of variants, kind of like Loki. There are the obvious ones that everyone is talking about, such as the new Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and the absolutely incredible looking Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter, which is my personal favorite. But recently I had the chance to join Toyota in Malibu for the Toyota Tacoma first drive event and sample a number of regular Tacoma variants, chief among them was the Tacoma TRD Off-Road, which I've previewed in another video. But there was a fair amount of interest in the Tacoma TRD PreRunner, an interesting mashup of TRD style and baja truck attitude. The TRD PreRunner comes with two wheel drive, a locking rear differential, and a TRD lift, all paired with the extended cab and longer bed. This makes the TRD PreRunner a bit of a Frankenstein in a good way, with lots of attributes people might be interested in for a reasonable price. (Current estimate is around $38k.) While everyone is understandably excited about the next Tacoma TRD Pro and Trailhunter, what do you think of the PreRunner. It took me some time behind the wheel, but I think I might have it figured out. The Toyota Tacoma TRD PreRunner is kind of like the ultimate beach truck, with enough functionality to have fun in the sandy bits but you're not fooling anyone into thinking you're going rock crawling anytime soon.
