In 13th century in Maharashtra, there lived an extremely poor devotee Gora Kumbhar,Such great was his devotion that Rukmani Krishna disguised as labourers personally worked in his home as servants to help him and his family. Gora Kumbharhimself chopped off his hands when they made an offence towards lord krishna but after few years in Liew of his unflinching devotion towards Krishna his hands grew back like branches of a tree, and his dead son, who was crushed to death in a tragedyyears ago, was miraculously brought back to life by Krishna!
The Miracles of Devotion to Lord Krishna!
Around 800 years back in the village of Teredoki lived an extraordinary devotee of Lord Krishna by the name of Gora Kumbhar. A potter by profession, he would always be engrossed in singing bhajans of Lord Vitthal, which is another name of Krishna. He chanted the name of Pandurang Lord Vitthal even while working.


Gora Kumbhar was married to Santi. Soon after, his wife gave birth to a son and named him Hari.


Once, his wife left her child Hari in the courtyard where Gora Kumbhar was working and went to bring water.
Gora Kumbhar was at time stamping and pounding clay in the pit. There were dark clouds in the sky and a crow flew bye. Hari on seeing this said crow and showed it to Gora Kumbhar. As soon as Gora Kumbhar saw the crow and the dark clouds, his heart was filled with the thoughts of Vitthal as he too was a dark complexioned one. He then started singing about him and soon he transcended in to a different state as usual. He was chanting “Vitthal Vitthal” and dancing in the pit with his arms up. In few moments rain started pouring in and the kid came running to Gora Kumbhar asking him to carry him as he was afraid of the thunders. As Hari came to his dad, he fell in to the clay pit and Gora Kumbhar with out noticing him continued his dancing and stamping and pounding the clay while Hari was stuck in the pit. Hari got deep in to the pit because of Gora Kumbhar’s stamping and pounding and died.
He was lost in singing the bhajans of Pandurang....Jai hari vitthal jai hari vitthal jai hari vitthal jai hari vitthal....and he didn't even hear the cries of his child and his child Hari.

On returning back, his wife she saw her husband, Gora Kumbhar to have deeply lost in Viithal bhajan and his clothes had blood. Then her eyes fell on the churned mud, which had become red with blood. She realised that her child had been crushed under the mud. She started wailing in grief. Still out his shout in grief, Saint Gora Kumhar said in anger why did you break my concentration in Vittal. As soon as he realised what had happened, he started crying badly. He said, Panduranga what big offence Have I done. ..
