Capriccio on Sakura - 藤掛廣幸 | NTU Guitar Ensemble

“Capriccio on Sakura” is a dramatic piece inspired by the popular Japanese folk song, “Sakura, Sakura.” Composer Fujikake Hiro has reimagined the folk song into a grand performance piece that moves between various speeds and intensities: from fast, furious paces to slower, grandioso melodies. While Fujikake had stated that this piece is one that prioritises flair and performance over telling a fixed story, its complexity and vibrancy make it a fitting metaphor for the different cycles and aspects of Japan’s famed sakura season.
