Includes the voices of Douglas Muggeridge, Gerard Mansell, Jean Metcalfe, Leonard Miall and Alexander Lieven. Produced by Anne Howells.
Broadcast on BBC Radio 4 to mark the 50th anniversary of the BBC World Service that had started in December 1932 as the Empire Service.
