Welcome to Video 913.

On Saturday 25th October 2025, in bright sunshine but bitterly cold wind, we spent a short time looking at bus services and trams in Blackpool town centre, 39 years on from the eve of bus deregulation in the United Kingdom (outside London).
Bus services are provided by Blackpool Transport Services Limited (Blackpool Transport), Stagecoach North West and Stagecoach Ribble (though Preston and Chorley depots transfer to Stagecoach North West from 1st December 2025) and Transpora.
Trams are operated by Blackpool Transport but are owned by Blackpool Borough Council and Lancashire County Council and run on the Blackpool Tramway which is owned by Blackpool Borough Council.
Blackpool's buses are beginning to show the "Lest We Forget" display that most people do not understand. It is actually a line from a little known war poem. Most other bus companies use "We Will Remember Them" with a poppy symbol or a "Tommy" soldier symbol. People understand that rather than a display that reads "Lest we forget...Line 14". It just seems so meaningless among the confusion of line names and, dare we say it, the actual service number and destination!!
