Biblical Hebrew: Is this the language of God?

I've recently been seeing the idea that Hebrew is the language of God becoming more popular on social media and the internet at large.
Often the thoughts that follow from this are that the Hebrew language has some sort of spiritual, mysterious power that can be unlocked in understanding the language.
I'll be using evidence from linguistics, scripture and history to show that Hebrew is perhaps not the "special language" that many propose it to be.
