আজ থেকে আগামী ৩০ এপ্রিল পর্যন্ত দু'মাসের জন্য পদ্মা-মেঘনা নদীতে সব ধরণের মাছ ধরা বন্ধ করা হয়েছে।

নিষেধাজ্ঞার কারণে নোয়াখালীতে মেঘনা নদীর প্রায় ৫০টি ঘাটে জেলেরা অলস সময় কাটাচ্ছেন। মাছ না ধরতে জেলেদের সচেতন করতে বিভিন্ন কর্মসূচি নিয়েছে জেলা মৎস্য কর্মকর্তা। এদিকে, সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে জেলেদের জন্য দেয়া বরাদ্দ সঠিকভাবে বিতরণের দাবি জানিয়েছেন জেলেরা।

চাঁদপুরে শুধু পদ্মা-মেঘনাই নয়, ইলিশ বিচরণ করে এমন ৫টি অভয়াশ্রমে সব ধরনের মাছ ধরার উপর নিষেধাজ্ঞা আরোপ করা হয়েছে। এদিকে, সকালে নিষেধাজ্ঞা অমান্য করে মাছ ধরার সময় ৪ জনকে আটক করেছে নৌ পুলিশ। পরে ভ্রাম্যমাণ আদালতের মাধ্যমে আটককৃতদের ২০ হাজার টাকা জরিমানা করা হয়েছে।
