High TurnItIn's "Similarity Index" doesn't always indicate plagiarims

A young colleague approached me for advice, almost crying.
His paper was rejected due to "plagiarism".
However, this young scholar insists the paper is his original work.
So, I asked for a copy of the paper, submitted it to my TurnItIn account, and immediately saw what was going on.

A very, very common case of when (likely inexperienced) editors look ONLY at the "similarity index" figure, without looking deeper, and mistakenly assume the paper was plagiarized.

Let me show you how often a high "similarity index" could be misleading.

I would also welcome your comments and thoughts on situations like this.
