An invoice is a sales document issued by an exporter to an importer, recording transaction details. It is an important settlement document in international trade and runs through the entire transaction process
It is not only proof of a sales contract, but also a key basis for customs declaration, foreign exchange settlement, tax refund and other links. Its accuracy directly affects the smooth completion of the transaction
They are divided into pro forma invoices and commercial invoices
A pro forma invoice is mainly used for initial communication and quoting to importers. It can also be used to apply for import licenses or open letters of credit, and is an important document in the early stage of a transaction
A commercial invoice is an official settlement document used for customs clearance and payment. It is the main document reviewed by customs, banks and other parties and has legal effect
It includes invoice number, invoice date, information of both the buyer and the seller, HS Code, and product description
For commercial invoices, attention should be paid to the mode of transport/port of shipment/port of destination, payment terms, and total invoice amount
