The video was produced in order of the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation; the latest actualization is of 2012.

The short film is about 10minutes long and gives information about the identification and designation of the 10 MPAs in the EEZ of the German waters, covering about 32% of the German EEZ. These 10 MPAs consist of 8 SCIs according to the Habitats Directive and 2 SPAs according to the Birds Directive. The Video gives an insight in the biological diversity of the North Sea and the Baltic Sea and shows the relevant species and habitats which occur in these MPAs.

The protection of these ecologically valuable areas is a great success and makes an important contribution to the international network of marine Protected Areas for the North-East Atlantic and the Baltic Sea.
