The Stockholm School of Economics was honored to welcome Halla Tómasdóttir, President of Iceland, for a state visit focused on leadership in turbulent times.

Also in attendance were King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, as well as Sweden’s Minister of Education.

In conversation with Professor Emma Bell, President Tómasdóttir reflected on the urgent need for a new kind of leadership—one rooted in cross-sector collaboration, intergenerational inclusion, transparency in times of low trust, and a deep sense of humanity.

The visit continued with a panel discussion featuring Isabel Keulen, CEO of SSE Business Lab and SSE Ventures, and entrepreneur Stefan Krook, SSE’s first Practitioner in Residence.

SSE President Lars Strannegård opened the event by highlighting the School’s commitment to developing human intelligence: a reflective, fact-based, empathetic, and entrepreneurial mindset for leading in complexity.
