Driving the Daytona Coupe - Shelby's Initial Answer to Ferrari (POV Video)

Fun fact, in the early 1960s they needed something faster than a Shelby Cobra in order to keep winning races and be competitive. Peter Brock was tasked with designing a car that would do just that. They didn't have a large budget to do so, so Carroll Shelby handed Peter Brock a cobra and said build me a new car. Originally they thought it was ugly and laughed at it. But once they refined it and got it on the track it did everything it set out to do. I'm over summarizing here, but the history behind these cars is extremely interesting. A quick Google search will give you a lot more than what I can provide here.

The Daytona Coupe you're looking at is one of ~89 modern CSX9000 Shelby Daytona Coupes built by Superformance. Peter Brock himself redesigned this car in the 1990s so this is not a replica, this is a new reborn Daytona Coupe from the original designer himself. There's also really cool history surrounding just that!

This car is an absolute blast to drive and dare I say is competing for the top spot versus my GT40.
