The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial has been hit by yet another snag.

As court resumed after a two-week recess, accused number three Mthobisi Mncube called for proceedings to be suspended over his continued incarceration in solitary confinement at the Kgoši Mampuru II Correctional Centre in Pretoria.

Mncube's lawyer advocate Charles Mnisi told the court that his client is prepared to go as far as seeking a separation of trial to allow him to bring an application over his prison conditions since 2020.

Mnisi was initially due to cross-examine Ballistics expert Malesela Ntini.

SABC News senior Reporter Chriselda Lewis attended the proceedings.
