Alta Via 1 | Dolomites | #5 Rifugio Nuvolau - Rifugio Passo Staulanza | Italian Alps

This is my 5th day on Alta Via 1 in the Dolomites, Italy, from Rifugio Nuvolau to Rifugio Passo Staulanza, via Giau Pass. The morning started with a spectacular sunrise at Rifugio Nuvolau and leaving the Cinque Torri area behind. The landscape kept changing along the trail, from rocky terrain to a green pasture. After crossing the busy road at Hotel Giau, gently climbing through the green hillside with vibrant wildflowers. Upon the steep ascent to Forcella Giau (Giau Pass), the view from the plateau is one of my favorites along Alta Via 1. I wish I had more time to explore the spectacular landscape, but I still have a long way to go. The trail continued through Forcella Ambrizolla, Rifugio Città di Fiume, passed right beneath Monte Pelmo, and finally arrived at Rifugio Passo Staulanza.
