This was our first trip to Colorado, we knew it would be a grind but we were up for the challenge. It was a tough and slow first 4 days, with little rut action. We had the opportunity to take a good bull on morning 5 and took advantage of it, Houston was able to get his biggest bull to date on an otc tag.
On morning of day 6 we wasted no time and Hayden smoked a stud buck at first light. With it being so early in the morning and the hunting season down to 1 day we kept hunting for Houston's tag. As we rolled into a new canyon we immediately glassed some deer at the top. We got closer with a different angle and was able to locate a good buck. 20 minutes of watching him he bedded and Houston decided to take the opportunity and just like that we had two bucks down by 8:30 a.m. It was a great trip we where able to share with our dad, mentally and physically challenging, but we fought through the lows together and kept a positive attitude. The memories made and the bond we shared on this hunt will stay with us forever.
