How adventurous are you ?

I still do not know how adventurous I am, because it is only when I am in a situation that I know if I am able to do something or not. A real situation is very different from a hypothetical one.

I am adventurous in the sense that I really enjoy knowing new places and I am not usually afraid of the unknown. But in the sense of totally change my life because of somethingsomeone, I do not know.

Maybe someday I will figure it out.

At my age (in the late70's) I'm not as adventurous as I used to be having backpacked Thailand and China in the early 90's and toured by rented car South Africa and Namibia in '96. I lived in the UK for 7 years and travelled Europe in my early years.

I am now more likely to rely on a good touring company like Road Scholar to visit different countries. I have visited - Peru, IndiaNepal, Egypt, Australia and New Zealand, Costa Rica, and Morocco through them.

I love travelling and learning about the different cultures of the world which is why I choose Road Scholar which treats the tourist as a scholar and offers lectures by local professors and experts in the field. Moreover I'm a fine art photographer and so take great pleasure in capturing unusual images either in photo journalism style or in abstract form.

However, more and more, flying is becoming a real chore. Not only the security inconveniences but the waits for many hours in airports or on the tarmac waiting for the plane to be deiced. I have definitely slowed down my travelling activities.

I am spontaneous by nature and adventure is just what follows. Whether it is packing myself off to a different country and not turning around to say good-bye to my parents at the airport or missing trains, waiting alone in deserted stations at midnight and trusting a random cab driver to take me home, trouble follows me like a clingy younger sibling.

This is the photo of the station I was stranded at, in Trier (Germany). The one hour drive from here to Luxembourg was one of the most memorable drives when the cab driver pointed out to me all the landmarks and spoke at length about the culture of the place.

Adventure is good ) It makes me feel alive. And it taught me that cab drivers are the most interesting characters in any place.
