People in Nashik district, in #India's western #Maharashtra state, say they need access to clean water as they resort to lowering themselves into wells to collect water in soaring temperatures.

The head of the village of Koshimpada in Nashik district, Reshma Gauli, said on Wednesday that women were risking their lives as they climbed down the side of the village well using ropes to reach the depleted water source at its base.

The women filtered the water they have brought to ground level themselves.

The state government said clean water would reach the village soon. (Reuters) #india #voanews
