Imagine our astonishment during a 2014 (?) visit to Death Valley! We were incredibly lucky to witness a living piece of history: a magnificent re-creation of the 20 Mule Team Borax wagon train making its way through Death Valley National Park for the grand opening of the new visitor center. It's one thing to read about this iconic symbol of the American West, but to see it in person – the mules, the wagon, the sheer scale – was an absolutely amazing and unexpected experience.
